Cyclorama Building (second) opens.

Architect: Cummings & Sears. It is located at 401 Tremont Street. The second building of its kind in Boston, it is built to display the 240-foot, 360-degree painting The Battle of Bunker Hill that was painted by five artists from the Paris School of Art (Leopold Kowalsky). After the exhibition closes on September 1, 1890 (building closes December 31, 1889-SEHS), the building is used as a riding academy, the Garden Theatre Arena in 1892, and as part of a new theater, which opens in 1894.*
